Bangkok, known as the Venice of the East, is one of South East Asia’s most cosmopolitan, vibrant and modern cities.

Thai Airways operates regular flights to almost all countries in the region. Tourists who would like visit Thailand from the United States can book their tickets through travel agents located in their own towns and cities.

There is a wide variety of airfare options available to travelers to Bangkok. One of the easiest ways to book tickets to visit the websites of different airlines. Most of these websites have provisions for entering details such as destination, number of passengers, start date and return date. Once the details are entered, which takes not more than five minutes, the traveler just has to click the “submit” button on the webpage. The cost of the ticket is displayed on the computer screen immediately. Information from different airlines can be gathered, prices compared and a decision made.

Some people prefer to consult a travel agent who takes all these steps on behalf of the passenger. Payments can be made online or through the travel agent.

When visiting Bangkok, it’s advisable to visit nearby areas of tourist interest inside Thailand and, if possible, neighboring countries.

A round trip tour from New York to Bangkok and back can begin as low as USD 200. The affordability depends on the number of passengers, length of stay, whether economy or business class, whether normal fare or excursion fare, and so on. Most airlines also charge for the interim hotel accommodation, onward reservations, etc.

Imagine that someone leaves New York on March 1st for Bangkok and returns on March 8th. An airline may charge $740 per person for this flight ticket. (This quote is only illustrative.)

Some of the major world airlines that offer excellent discount tickets to Bangkok are Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, United Airlines, and China Airlines of Taiwan.

The Association of Thai Travel Agencies is a very good source of information on airfares to Bangkok. It can be found online at www.atta.or.th. Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai embassies or consulates are very good sources too.

Bangkok provides detailed information on Bangkok Hotels, Bangkok, Bangkok Airfare, Bangkok Nightlife and more.

Tips for Finding Airline Travel Deals

Setting up a budget is usually the first step in planning for a dream vacation. You have to consider the costs of getting to, and staying at, a particular place, even if you may have a destination in mind. You may have to spend some time in search of some great airline travel deals if money is tight. Fortunately, finding airline travel deals is not as difficult as it used to be.

Booking a flight well in advance is one of the tricks to getting great deals. Airline tickets can be booked up to eleven months in advance. Early tickets are often cheaper than buying them just until a few weeks before your trip. However, you can have some problems if your trip is cancelled because these tickets are often non refundable.

You should call the airline directly if you are looking for airline travel deals. The airlines are the best source for discount prices. They may be eager to get you aboard because of a last minute flight that they would like to fill. They may also have some unadvertised specials that you can take advantage of.

Travel agents are also a good source of airline travel deals. You can ask them to search through all airline offers and find something to fit your needs. You will have a person who has your best interests at heart if you choose to deal with a travel agent.

In recent years, travel agents have lost a lot of business because online airfare sites have become very popular. They will be eager to help you find very best airline travel deals, so that you will still seek their service in the future.

The Internet is also a good source of airline travel deals. Try not to focus your search on just a few sites, search them all if you want the best deals. Since that ticket price change quite often, you should get a ticket if it has a fantastic price immediately. That great price could be gone in a few hours.

Remember that airline travel deals aren’t really deals if you aren’t getting what you think you are paying for. Read the fine print on any website before you make any ticket purchase. Otherwise, you may be stuck with the cost of the tickets if there is a mistake.

Always ask the travel agent or the airline’s representative to repeat all the information back to you so that you can double check your ticket. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you discover that there has been a mistake, or that you have not been given the airline travel deals that you should be getting.

Airline Tickets Don’t Have To Be Expensive

Airline ticket costs have been climbing in the last few years. In many instances, the inflation of prices can be attributed to rising fuel costs and other inflation. Airlines have struggled to offset the increase in business expenses by utilizing multiple tactics such as block out days and cutting the number of flights to certain destinations, but inevitably it comes down to raising airline ticket prices.

This strategy of passing the expense of fuel and other expenses to customers is not uncommon at all. Most airlines will lower airline ticket prices during the low travel seasons to spark interest in travelers and then raise them again at the height of travel seasons.

Such fluctuations in price are frustrating to airline passengers to say the least. The earlier one buys his or her airline tickets, the better the pricing structure for the tickets. Although this is true, the lower cost is not always an overly traveling budget saving discount. Airline ticket prices are high.

Many flyers attempt to purchase their airline tickets months in advance to get the best possible deal but this tactic doesnt work very well in many cases because there are thousands of would be travelers doing the exact same thing for popular flights. Supply and demand keeps prices high.

Then there is the obvious problem of needing a flight on the spur of the moment. OK, not everyone can schedule their travel months in advance. There is such a thing called spontaneity. Deciding to travel and wanting to leave in 2 days or less is common.

Ten out of fifteen people polled admit having been burned by the price of an airline ticket due to not knowing in advance that they would need to travel. Fifteen out of fifteen admitted changing travel plans in an effort to save money.

Lets face it, you should be able to purchase your airline tickets and travel whenever you want. However, purchasing airline tickets based on that desire would cost you big. Airline ticket prices are often fifty to seventy percent higher when purchased at the last moment.

Dont get me wrong. To save some cash, it is best to purchase your airline tickets as early as possible to avoid the jump in price. But if that isnt possible, it is imperative that you use the available online tools to offset the costs associated with spontaneous airline ticket purchases.

The Cheap Airline Tickets Toolbar at CheapAirlineTicketsToolbar dot com allows travelers to earn money for airline tickets so that they can fly without the usual wallet drain.

The Cheap Airline Ticket Toolbar interfaces with TypoBounty dot com. TypoBounty dot com is where companies seeking a very low advertising rate offer to pay web surfers for locating and reporting their web propertys errors. The companies are seeking to eliminate errors such as misspelled words, punctuation errors etc. With the average payout for a single error being over two dollars, financing ones need for airline tickets is no longer a problem.

Shop around for the best airline ticket prices. Do it as far out as possible and use online tools that help offset the sting of the tickets price. Happy travels!

Airline tickets are the #1 searched for ticket item online and polls show 30% of all airline tickets are electronic tickets. They are offered for sale by all major carries, airline ticket counters, travel agents and web pages. The tickets are similar to negotiable documents and are personal and cannot be transferred to another person. Discount airline tickets are readily available on the internet and are subject to the individual airline’s Terms and Conditions. Online airline tickets are deeply discounted because the airlines sell about 7-100 seats on each flight to contracted online vendors.

The Internet is really your best choice to find cheap airfare to anywhere in the world and is a way to find cheap plane tickets quickly and easily.

Most airline web sites will note what day deals are posted but great deals are harder to find these days, and you’ve got to go beyond the obvious. You can always get the latest airline ticket deals from all the top travel providers online but use your flexibility with your exact flight times to take advantage of any available deals.

Reservations are always subject to availability at the time of booking and reservations professionals are usually committed to helping you plan and schedule any vacation accommodations. Travel planning and reservations well in advance is always advised but reservations are only completed by purchasing the tickets. There is no single travel reservations site where you can always find low prices, cheap airline tickets, discount hotels, or discount rental cars but with billions being spent every year, on-line reservations really do work.

Consolidator Airline Tickets are discounted airfares that are sold by most major Airline Companies to help fill seats and are generally the best discounted airline tickets available. The prices of airline tickets are constantly going up and down with most tickets being completely nonrefundable. Remember that round-trip airline tickets are often less expensive than one-way fares and cheap airline tickets are available at peak times, but you generally have to book far in advance. Budget airline tickets are great and in general, these deeply discounted airline tickets are released early Wednesday morning for travel during upcoming weekends. Now go online and save you some money!

Airline Tickets – To Insure or Not to Insure

All of the major travel agencies provide options for protecting your non-refundable ticket. However, that may not be what you need considering the limitations. More comprehensive travel insurance may fit your needs better.

After working hard for your vacation and looking forward to it for so long, what happens when you’ve purchased the least expensive non-refundable tickets and you have an unforeseen emergency that prevents you from making your trip? Unless you have purchased ticket-protector insurance, you’re probably stuck. Continental, Northwest and America West airlines as well as several travel web sites offer such insurance.

Now, you may still be stuck, depending on the particular policy and the situation that prevented you from making your flight. Travel expert and author, Ed Perkins, calls ticket-protector insurance a “lite” version of trip-cancellation and trip-interruption insurance. Perkins says, “Instead of buying insurance that covers all your bases, like your hotel, car rental or most anything else, you are solely protecting your flight.”

For years, several online travel companies have offered ticket-protector insurance. For about 4% of your ticket price you can be covered up to $3,000. However, before you purchase this insurance, you need to know exactly what is covered and what is not.

It is essential to understand exactly what the covered reasons are, as it could mean the difference between receiving a full refund and having to absorb the cost yourself. Covered reasons typically include medical emergencies, car accidents, terrorist attacks, airline delays or cancellations, natural disasters, death of traveler or family member, adverse weather, airline strikes and jury duty. Be careful, though, as those reasons may have narrower definitions than you would expect.

As an example, a sudden heart attack or debilitating injury would be covered. However, an existing condition such as epilepsy would not be covered even if you have a seizure two days before departure which prevents you from traveling. That condition is already being treated and therefore would not be covered under your ticket-protector insurance.

Adverse weather conditions do not include conditions that are “expected”. For example, if you are traveling to a hurricane-prone area and a Category 4 hurricane is predicted to hit your destination days before your arrival, you will not receive a refund unless the airline cancels the flight or the airport is closed.

While labor strikes are covered reasons, you already have some protection on that front. There is a law requiring airlines to honor competitors’ tickets in the event of a strike or shutdown. However, this law only applies in the United States. It does not cover international airports.

Critics of ticket-protector insurance argue that the coverage is too limited because unforeseen situations are very often not covered. If a person truly has a non-refundable, non-reusable ticket, the insurance may come in handy. However, no one knows their circumstances ahead of time and if there is a problem with the coverage, the insurance company usually wins.

Ticket-protector insurance should only be purchased under limited circumstances say consumer advisers. Airlines are sometimes criticized for prohibiting refunds and then selling insurance to provide those refunds. The airlines respond that providing the insurance gives travelers more choice.

So, is a traveler better off with ticket-protector insurance or more comprehensive travel insurance? While ticket-protector insurance covers only the flight, travel insurance generally covers all aspects of your trip. Chances are that whatever causes a person to miss their flight is also going to cause them to miss their whole trip, or at least necessitate changes across the board, i.e. car rental, hotel reservations, entertainment tickets, etc. A consumer must weigh all factors involved in making the decision on which insurance to purchase, if any.

How Not to Let Airline Ticket Websites Fly Away With Your Money

In lieu of saving a dollar or two on airline tickets, airline ticket websites could be flying away with more than just your money.

The internet is full of websites that contain good deals on airline tickets. Customers of such websites need to exercise caution. Some websites have reported deals that are simply too good to be true. Remember the old adage, “if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it probably is a duck.” So watch out.

These websites attract patrons by slashing airline ticket prices offered elsewhere. They capture your personal information, including credit card number, expiration date, and CVV (credit card verification value, a security feature on credit cards) code. The customer then receives a message that says that the credit card transaction has been declined. Then there are directions on how to wire the money for payment of those tickets. Another variation of this illegal money making scheme has the website give you an error message at the end of the transaction signaling you that there was technical difficulty with instructions on how to pay for the ticket via money order. In reality, many reputable businesses would not do this.

We have compiled a small list of websites that employ these questionable business practices:

http://www.SubmitPrice.net

http://www.CrazyTickets.net

http://www.CheapClouds.com

This website scam is essentially another form of phishing. It only differs from the conventional phishing scam in that the customer is the one who initiates the contact. The customer does this by performing an internet search for the lowest ticket prices. Finding crooked websites that rank high in the search results creates a false impression that these websites are honest and ethical. If you fall for this scam, the perpetrators will have won this game of deception by obtaining your credit card information, money that you wire transferred, and deposit account information.

These websites are only a few of the numerous crooked websites. The simplest way to avoid this consumer fraud scam is to patronize well known and trusted websites when conducting business online. This includes making travel arrangements.

There are lots of consumer fraud schemes out there. It is up to you, the consumer, to educate yourself to recognize what is and is not legitimate. Hopefully our advice will help you minimize becoming a victim of the crime of phishing.

Buying an Airline Ticket to Europe

The airline ticket is probably going to be the biggest single expense of your trip in and out of Europe, especially if you are coming from Australia or New Zealand. The worst thing you can do is buy your ticket up at the last minute. Although there are some great deals on short notice, you are more likely to get a cheaper flight if you booked well in advance and you can also choose your seat in the flight. If you were still unsure about leaving, than buying a ticket early is a great boost. Once you have a ticket, it feels like there’s no turning back.

Depending on your standard of comfort and your budget, there is always an airline that can cater to you. Just remember that with airlines, you always get what you pay for. If you opt for cheap airlines, you are more likely to ride on older planes with greater safety risks and likelier delays. However, it’s good to know that there are already a lot of very airlines that cater to the middle market. Before you buy a ticket, it is advisable to do some research first. Ask about several airlines from a travel agency, or talk to people who have recently come from Europe. Check for frequent-flier programs, booking options, discounts for pre-booking and the cancellation policies of each airline. You can check the Web for information, as most major airlines have their schedules, prices and policies on the Internet.

If you think you will be flying in connected flights, make sure that the airlines that you are riding have certain partnership agreements that make it easier for you to travel between borders. Most airlines offer frequent-flier programs that can give you free flights or other benefits like seat upgrades. Your rewards are based on the number of kilometers that you flew with that airline or with its partners, or you can gather points by using affiliated travel services like hotels or car rentals. It would make sense for you to choose your home country’s carrier plane so you can use the free miles for future domestic flights. Just remember that frequent-flier flights have limited seats and are not available during peak seasons like Christmas.

Check your ticket restrictions. You may be subject to cancellation penalties, unexpected refunds policies, seasonal limits and stopover limits. If you have a discounted ticket, the conditions attached can even become more restrictive.

You can also get a discount return ticket if Europe is the only continent you plan to visit. If you fly to one destination, but have to return home from another, an open-jaw taken is your best option to save backtracking time. Open-jaw tickets are more expensive than regular return tickets if they can let you see more of a region especially when the distance between your starting and endpoints is great. If you’re not sure about your return date, you can purchase a one-way ticket. It can cost more than half of a return ticket, but can be a very liberating option. However, many countries will not give you a visa unless they see that you are flying with a return ticket. You will have to show your travel route as well as proof that you have enough cash to keep you afloat the entire time. If you have a two-year Commonwealth working visa, a one-way ticket can be of great help to you.

If you plan to travel to more than one continent, your best option is to get an RTW ticket. This is a ticket that gives you unlimited time, usually a year, to go around the globe in one direction with a predetermined number of stopovers. There are a lot of RTW combinations, so if you want to visit more places in less travel time, this kind of ticket is usually much cheaper than trying to buy individual tickets as you go.

You can get ticket discounts if you travel with a group. Other airlines offer discounts for teachers, students and holders of youth cards.

Avoid buying secondhand tickets that are usually worthless and do not match your identification. Immigration officials will most likely stop you from getting on that flight anyway. Once you have a clear idea of your travel plans and the amount of time can afford to be away, purchase your airline ticket directly from an airline company, from selected travel agents, or through reputable travel magazines.

Airline Ticket Advertised Prices and Surcharges

Due to high fuel prices and often very rapid price spikes in fuel the airline industry at a severe disadvantage indeed. Due to various excuses that are used by bulk oil commodity traders or actual problems, which do severely impact fuel supply and the fact that the airline tickets are sold in advance; it does create a hardship for both consumer and airlines.

Supply spikes can occur for a number of reasons such as an impending show down with Iran over its nuclear weapons manufacturing and sponsoring of International Terrorism or the 2006 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season you see? It is for this reason that the subject came up and a moderator in an online think tank was asked the following question; “Are the extra surcharges that influence the price of airline tickets in the advertised price or are they included later?”

Occasionally, the airlines will find ways to make extra monies post ticket, for instance selling you rental of plastic ear phones for the in-flight money always seems rather interesting? Also there are issues with “.COM” ticket sales companies which sell you a ticket and then you find out later of a price increase, kind of a shocker for your credit card? That probably pisses off consumers.

It is not a perfect world out there and there are always lots of disclosures and “fine print” too that people often DO NOT read. “Check here if you agree to the terms?” Consumers need to be educated and understand these things so they do not get burned or feel they have been cheated. Do consider this in 2006.

Airline Ticket – A Trip Of A Lifetime

Exciting times are ahead when you book an airline ticket – at least most of the time. There are exceptions of course, as we can see while at airports watching business passengers in the lounges, laptop on table, checking their email before boarding. Perhaps not the exciting times you envisage when making a trip somewhere for a vacation.

Let’s go back a few years – and with the benefit of a few years behind me I can remember the time when we used to wear our best suits to travel on an aircraft. The process of presenting a ticket was somewhat lengthy and if those of you around my age group can remember, the ticket took the form of a small booklet. I ask this rhetorical question here: What were all those pages for? The carbon copies went through each of four or five pages.

You fronted up at your departure point, gave the ticket in, put your luggage on the scales – is that what they’re called at airports? – and the administrative person behind the desk started the process. Firstly, he/she would check your details, name, departure point, etc. Then tear out one of the pages. I am sure there used to be four inside pages, but I thought that at departure and return points the airport staff would only take out one page at a time. If that be the case, why was there only the stub of the ticket left when you got home. I admit I haven’t had sleepless nights worrying about it, but I found it puzzling whenever circumstance arose. I thought that perhaps a copy of the luggage labels that were placed on your bags were attached to them, but no, they were stapled to the front or back of the ticket.

I guess with the ticket, the object of the exercise was to determine that they were your airline tickets and therefore they entitled you to the ultimate prize – a boarding pass for the aircraft. I guess I must seem cynical. Actually, I am in full admiration for how efficient the system was and is.

I find that airline ticketing generally is pretty good. The advent of the eticket was made seamlessly and was probably, in these security conscious days, one of the simplest and more effective ways of ensuring that the person who had the ticket was in fact the person who bought it.

Coming back briefly to the attachment of luggage bar codes to tickets. I have no doubt that this has streamlined the handling process of the thousands of pieces of luggage that pass through airports daily, but in my case, I was in Perth, Western Australia, catching a flight with my wife to Melbourne. Both our tickets were verified, and barcode luggage tickets attached. Arrived in Melbourne – found out luggage is in Sydney. No problem, delivered next day at airline’s expense. This made me think that for all the bar-coding and ticketing efficiency, if a luggage handling person puts it on the wrong trolley, there is nothing anyone can do.

I hope this light hearted look at airline tickets and ticketing does not offend airport and airline staff. If so, I apologise. They have my undying admiration for the tasks they perform under extremely difficult situations.

——————————————————-

Top Ten Secrets to Saving Big Money in the Airline Flights

Do you know that some people travel around the country and abroad, for both business and pleasure, and save bundles of money in the process?

They do that by using little known ways of really taking advantage of the most popular form of transportation – airline flights.

They don’t rely on the ever-famous “airfare price-wars”. They don’t rely on their travel agents to save money while flying.

Certainly, you should not dismiss these two methods. The price-wars can work to your advantage. But depending on them too much is a big mistake.

1. Call the airlines.

Call the airlines between midnight and 1 a.m. Monday through Friday to get cheaper tickets.

Most people never realize that at midnight, airline agents revise and load new fares into their computers. The best fares are just after they have done the updating!

2. Check into other airports other than the main one you use.

Many major cities have two airports. Check into surrounding towns and cities so you can compare airfares. You may save hundreds of dollars on your flights.

3. The early bird catches the plane.

The earlier you book your flight the more you save. Most special fares have restrictions of 7 to 30 day advance purchase. Usually non-refundable but they can offer deep discounts.

On the other hand, there are “last minute” deals too. Visit www.smartliving.com to get emails for last minute deals.

4. Get out of town on Wednesday.

Mid-week travel is usually less expensive. If you leave on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and stay over a Saturday night, you can garner terrific savings compared to Friday through Monday when most people fly.

Start taking your vacations Wednesday-to-Wednesday or Tuesday-to-Tuesday. You’ll save a lot by choosing your departure and arrival dates this way!

5. Buying a one way or split ticket.

Let’s say you travel from Boston to Dallas. It may be cheaper to get two separate tickets. You could buy one ticket from Boston to Nashville and one from Nashville to Dallas.

It all depends on the connecting cities and your airlines hubs. Just tell your agent you are willing to travel out of other airports and connect using regional airports to save money.

6. Open wide.

You should look into what is called an “Open-Jaw” ticket. These are used when a traveler is arriving and departing from different cities.

One ticket is purchased to cover both cities. Check with your travel agent or airline representative to see if this trick is available instead of two one-way tickets. Compare the price of each.

7. An excellent online service www.sidestep.com

You enter destinations and dates and SideStep quickly searches
a couple of dozen affiliated regional and international airlines to find the best rates.

8. “Code share”.

Ask your agent if this flight is a “code-share” flight. That means the same flight is offered by two different airlines. Just copy down the name of the other airline and check into what they are charging.

Only one of the airlines is actually operating the flight. The actual operator always offers this flight for less, so book with them.

9. Sign up for the airline newsletters.

From weekend getaways to international flight packages the newsletter saves you money on travel and doesn’t require that you constantly visit the airline website for the latest offering.

10. The airlines often slash their fares during sluggish travel times.

Scan your travel sections in the newspapers and talk to your agent about these low fares.
